Highlights from the 2023 Trainers Residential at Cumberland Lodge
Hello everyone!
On Friday, November 24, 2023, we held our annual trainers’ residential at Cumberland Lodge, and it was a productive day filled with insightful discussions and learning opportunities.
We began the day by exploring the new SCA Exam format, discussing strategies to effectively prepare our ST3 trainees for success. Nan Sharma and Nad Ahmed, both SCA Examiners, hosted an informative Q&A session that helped clarify misconceptions about the exam process. This was followed by interactive ‘world cafe’ style group sessions focused on the holistic development of communication skills, extending beyond ‘expected’ SCA consulting. All presentation slides and outcomes from these sessions are now available in the Educator Forum section of our website.
In the afternoon, we welcomed Baz Chada, ST1 and Clinical AI Fellow, who delivered a talk on the impact of artificial intelligence on clinical care and medical education. His insights were well received and have encouraged many trainers and practices to consider integrating AI tools into their work.
