On Thursday, October 26, 2023, West Mid hosted its inaugural SCA preparation course. We are excited about making this an annual event, offering ST3s the opportunity to practice SCA-style cases with immediate feedback from official SCA examiners and experienced role players.
The course was highly beneficial, standing out from commercial alternatives due to the direct involvement of official examiners who provided detailed and relevant feedback for each case. Designed to be interactive, each trainee engaged with six different cases, actively performing in two as the candidate. The cases covered a broad spectrum of the GP curriculum.
Due to its popularity, we expanded the course twice to accommodate trainees from two other local VTS training schemes. Given the positive reception, we hope to establish this as a recurring opportunity and we are in discussions with the London Deanery to have it recognised as an approved optional course. This would allow trainees to reclaim their costs from their study budget.
