JB Award of Excellence 2024

Celebrating Excellence: The Julian Bradley Award

On Wednesday, May 15, 2024, The Julian Bradley Award of Excellence was presented for the first time at the Trainee Residential. The award is a prestigious recognition that celebrates trainee excellence, specifically nominated by trainers who have witnessed and appreciated the exceptional qualities and achievements of their trainee. It highlights the commitment, hard work, and dedication demonstrated by the trainee during their training. This nomination process ensures that the recognition is based on first-hand observations and assessments by experienced professionals who understand the standards of excellence within the training program.

On behalf of the entire training community, we are keen to celebrate our well-deserved winner, Humzah Baig. Join us in applauding Humzah for his remarkable achievements and dedication to excellence in general practice.

What is the Julian Bradley Award?

Named in memory of Dr Julian Bradley, a revered former West Mid Training Programme Director who sadly passed away a few years ago. This award honours his legacy as a passionate advocate of the Scheme. The Award of Excellence recognises his personal outstanding attributes, skills and contributions.

  • Commitment to general practice
  • Commitment to education
  • Support of peers
  • Openness to new ideas and innovation
  • Professional resilience
  • Independent thinking

Nomination Details:

Humzah’s trainer submitted the following nomination, which encapsulates why Humzah was chosen as this year’s recipient of ‘The Julian Bradley Award of Excellence’:

“Throughout our time together, Humzah has consistently demonstrated a willingness to explore new ideas and approaches. His proactive attitude towards testing and trying new things has been truly commendable.

Among the many memorable moments I’ve shared with Humzah, his participation in various initiatives stands out. From our collaborative efforts in conducting ‘Express Clinics’, where we efficiently attended to patients with minor conditions, to his involvement in health screenings and advisory services at the local mosque, Humzah has exhibited professionalism, empathy, and a genuine dedication to patient care. Moreover, his outstanding performance in obtaining a digital health certificate reflects his exemplary skills in research, collaboration, and presentation. Despite facing challenges, Humzah has handled setbacks with grace and determination, demonstrating resilience and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Beyond his clinical proficiency, Humzah’s humility and preference for working behind the scenes underscore his genuine passion for making a difference without seeking recognition. His decision to pursue a career in his local community, coupled with his interest in teaching, speaks volumes about his commitment to serving and uplifting those around him.

I wholeheartedly believe that Humzah’s exceptional qualities and dedication make him a deserving candidate for the Award of Excellence. His contributions to general practice and his community in Hounslow are sure to be invaluable in the years to come.”
